Pet Hip Dysplasia
Hip Dysplasia is a genetically inherited disease of hip joints that results in hip joints becoming loose. This causes cartilage damage, scar tissue formation around the joint, and eventually, arthritis. The problem ranges from mild to severe and often begins in puppies as young as six months of age.

WHICH DOGS ARE AFFECTED BY HIP DYSPLASIA?
Hip dysplasia can affect any dog, whether it is male or female, small, medium, or large-sized. However, it is estimated that more than 50% of some large breeds are affected, making it far more common in these animals than in smaller dogs.
HOW WE CORRECT HIP DYSPLASIA IN DOGS
A femoral head ostectomy (FHO) is the most common procedure for correcting hip dysplasia in dogs. This procedure removes the ball of the hip joint to alleviate the painful rubbing that can occur from hip dysplasia. Small to medium breed dogs do best with this procedure, but larger dogs can have good return to function as well.
